About our Wood Products

Laird Woodland Farm has been registered as a Tree Farm since the 1960s. This is a unique place - home to more than 48 documented tree species, many of which are not found together in any other place on Earth.  My great grandfather planted communities of thriving species among the fields, springs, creeks, and marshes.

We are coming to know these trees.  As they age and give themselves to their surroundings, our goal is to honor their generosity.  All Laird Woodland Farm timber is sustainably harvested, a tree at a time, and removed in a low-impact manner. Byproducts are used as assets in other endeavors.  Buds, seeds, nuts and berries are collected and planted or dried for later use.   Limbs not suitable for building or craft are inoculated with beneficial mushrooms or used to heat our homes and cook our meals.  What little wood is left is buried in our gardens, essentially composting the remains in place - sequestering carbon while hydrating and nourishing the vegetations with decades of accumulated nutrients and minerals. Nothing is wasted.

Every wooden piece from Laird Woodland Farm tells the story of the life of the tree in this place. We hope you sense this deep connection as you enjoy our charcuterie boards, utensils, and live-edge furnishings in your home amongst family and friends.
