How do you use hydrosols?

*as with all skincare products, see how your own skin reacts before more extensive use
  • Use hydrosols as a gentle cleanser for your skin removing dirt and debris without stripping the acid mantle.

  • Use as a skin toner.

  • Use as a light summer moisturizer.

  • Use as a light after shave moisturizer.

  • Use as an after sun spray to moisten your skin.

  • Use on hair to smooth flyaways.

  • Use in place of beard oil

  • Use as a cool down after a run.

  • Lightly spritz your face as a reset after stressful situations.

  • Use as a a spritz to improve focus.

  • Add a small splash to sparkling water, regular water, or a cocktail for that matter.

  • I made a curry a few days ago and added a couple of teaspoons of lemon balm hydrosol right at the end for a unique flavor.

  • In the winter I need more than hydrosol to moisten my skin so I make a moisturizer out of an emulsion of oil and hydrosol (Look for Tulsi rose hand and face cream in the fall or winter CSA box.)

  • Use it like a perfume. I really like juniper hydrosol for this one.

  • Add to an epsom foot soak or a bath.

  • I will often use to freshen sheets that have the: “I have been hanging out in the linen closet smell.”

  • Help wrinkles fall out of clothes you don’t want to iron.

  • Chamomile hydrosol can calm restless children.

  • Cleaning cutting boards (I would recommend tulsi hydrosol for this one)

  • Hydrosol can be used as a mouthwash (tulsi is great for this one as well)

I would also love to hear how YOU use your hydrosols!
