Herbal CSA’s, Farmers and Organizations I LOVE!
Okay, the first stop, Wild and Wise, located in Petrolia, CA, Not only does she have a pretty fantastic herbal CSA she has also put together a generous Herbal CSA directory so you can connect with growers in your area. Check out the Wild and Wise Herbal CSA Directory
Next is Rhubarb Botanicals, located in Mount Vernon in east central Iowa. Emma is part of our Certified Naturally Grown network of farmers, and her stuff is fantastic.
Golden Hour Farm is located in Michigan. I have loved every herb that I have received from them, plus Scott is a family friend.
Check out Jess and Jake from Sacred Sun Cooperative Farm located in Lawrence, KS. I worked with Jess and Jake while managing the Brookside Farmers Market in Kansas City. They are amazing humans and wonderful growers.
For those in the South, check out Crystal Organic Farm in Newborn, Georgia. You know I love them.
While I must confess I have not purchased anything from Bird Fork Farm in East Tennessee, I love what I see them doing, and I look forward to being a customer while I am in the area.
Oh, West Coast, I have not forgotten you. Oshala Farm is an excellent source of a large variety of herbs. This is my go-to place for Nettle and Astragalus (those who have been following me know that these herbs are on my struggle-to-grow list).
If you are a grower, consider looking into Certified Naturally Grown. CNG offers “peer-review certification to farmers and beekeepers producing food, flowers, and fiber for their local communities. Their standards are based on the highest ideals of the organic movement. Their approach is based on transparency, direct relationships and a firm belief in the ability to create something uniquely valuable by working together.”
